A few days back I attended a live webinar of a popular blogger ‘Darren Rowse’ who blogs at problogger.net. The webinar was about finding readers for the blog. A lot of people are facing issues while finding loyal readers for their blog and always complain about the traffic that is being derived to their blogs.
So, Darren Rowse thought to share some points on this topic and disclosing some ways in which he generates traffic to his blog. I really liked the webinar so I thought to share some key points with my readers. So, let’s start.
Finding Readers For Your Blog
1. Identify Who You Want To Reach
The most important thing in finding readers is to know your targeted readers. There a around millions of people online searching for new content. What kind of readers are you exactly looking for.
Classify your targeted readers by age, sex, location, tech savvy or not, bloggers or non bloggers, etc and on many more grounds. If you are aware of your targeted audience it will be a lot easier to find them.
2. Create Content That Meets Their Needs
When you are aware of your audience, develop content that meets their needs. The more content according to their taste, & niche – the more they would live to come & stay for long. Do classify the content needs of your audience as well.
The audience can be classified into newbies, experiences & professionals or experts. You need to check what type of audience you are focusing. For eg: if you are focusing on newbies, then you need to develop your content according to them, explaining all of the terms in details so that they can understand and so on. So, try to have a glimpse of the audience before creating content.
3. Identify Where They Gather
You need to analyze where your target audience is gathering. It might be any online platform, like Facebook, Twitter or in some other scenario it can be any forum and a lot more hangout places on the net. You need to analyze them all.
If your target audience is spending most of the time on Facebook or Twitter, it’s pretty much clear that you need to spend time on Facebook Marketing, & Tweeting your posts on twitter. Without it, you can’t even think of getting your audience. So analyze the platforms, and master them.
4. Engage The Readers That You Have
Engaging the present readers that you already have is equally important as to get new readers. Leaving your present readers unattended in order to get new readers is nothing but a foolish act. Don’t do that.
Try to engage the readers that you already have, built a community out of them. Entertain them, make them stick for long. And then go for finding new people that can join the existing running community around your blog. It works like charm.
5. Provide An Easy Way To Share/Subscribe
It would really be great if people automatically work to get you some new readers. Yes, it is possible. People like to share content if it is really of use to their friends & knowns. So that why we told you to create content that meets their needs in the second point.
Create awesome content, and do check that there is an easy way to share/subscibe to the content. Work on social share buttons and make them user friendly and see the magic. You can check out this post that tells you about WordPress plugins that help in Social Media Promotion.
