Facebook having a large number of active users (numbers say more than 1 billion) and that’s the only reason it’s on the top when we talk about finding our fans or followers. One simple way to gather your fans at one place is by creating a Facebook page. A Facebook page can really help you in making a brand out of your blog, website, business & product.
You don’t need to be a tech savvy to create a Facebook page. Here’s the step by step tutorial to create a Facebook page.
Creating The Facebook Page
To create a Facebook page, we need to follow the URL i.e. http://www.facebook.com/pages/ and click on ‘Create Page’ on the upper right corner.
After you click on ‘create a page’, you will be redirected to the page where you will be able to see different types of page categories:
1. Local Business or Place
2. Company, Organization or Institution
3. Brand or Product
4. Artist, Band or Public Figure
5. Entertainment
6. Cause or Community
Note: For the demo purpose I am selecting ‘Local Business or Place’ category.
Click on the relevant category and the form to fill the information will be right in front of you. The form looks like:
Fill out all the required information like Name, Address, Telephone number and click on ‘Get Started’.
Now you will be redirected to a new page where you can upload profile photo for your page, fill some about information, and you can even enable ads to advertise your page from the same panel. Fill out all the information and click on Continue.
As soon as you either complete these steps or skip them, you will be redirected to the basic page that we have to customize according to our needs. Here’s how the basic version of the page looks like:
Essential Things To Do After Creating The Facebook Page:
1. Adding a Custom Photo To Your Facebook Page
Custom profile photo for your fan page is your first chance to impress your viewers. And the second things, wherever you post from your fan page, this profile photo will be shown. So, it is really important to choose the pic wisely otherwise it can ruin your brand image.
2. Adding a Custom Cover Photo
Custom Cover photo is just like a billboard that is out there shouting that we are what you want. So, try to make this one really worth seeing and attractive. People should be able to love it and say to themselves that yes, I should visit this page.
3. Suggesting Your Page To Friends
Friends are always the first ones who like the page, and I believe you should not miss the chance to test their friendship. Suggest them your page from the ‘Invite Friends’ box on the right of your page. Select as maximum as possible because they will be counted as likes on your page.
4. Importing Email Contacts
Yes, you can inform your email contacts about your page as well. Once you click on ‘Build Audience > Import Email Contacts’, it will show you a pop up box in which there will be most of the email providers like Yahoo, Gmail and an option to login and import contacts directly from there.
5. Writing Some Content
Start writing some content on your Facebook page so that people start getting engaged. More engaging is directly proportional to more likes and a better fan following. So, try to create content that people would like to read, & share. Videos, Images and short text messages get more views than the long content.
6. Getting a Vanity URL
Once you reach 25 likes you will be eligible to get a vanity URL. Vanity URL means your own custom link that you can share with the people. For e.g. www.facebook.com/businessname. Make sure you remember to get that as soon as you reach 25 likes. You can get that by using the application on the facebook.com/username page.
7. Assign Other Admins
If more than one person would be helping you out to manage the page, then you have to assign him as an admin so that he/she can get the authority to share content on your page, reply to comments and much more. You can easily do that by clicking on ‘Edit Page > Admin Roles’
Make sure you have a check on what kind of roles you want to give to the person who is going to help you in the management of the page. The designations according to the roles capability are:
a) Manager
b) Content Creator
c) Moderator
d) Advertiser
e) Insights Analyst
